1-on-1 Year-to-Year College Advising

We are no longer working with students within a structured cohort format. We provide 1-on-1 year-to-year college advising for all students registered in our program, which involves:

• Hosting 3 formal meetings with students and parents during which we discuss strategies, set goals, and monitor student progress toward their goals.
  • Beginning of the year meeting to set goals.
  • Mid-year assessment to review first semester success, plan summer activities, and assess the student’s progress across our 3 pillars of scholarship, leadership, and service.
  • Year-end assessment to review school-year success and plan the next school year’s course taking.
• We review the body of work, as reflected in each student’s résumé, transcript, course taking, and test scores, and provide recommended actions.
• We assign online activities based on the unique needs, aspirations, and goals of each student.
• We assign online activities to deepen student understanding of such areas as personality type and temperament; mindset and grit; circadian rhythm; and learning strategies.
• Collectively, these actions support students in developing personalized year-to-year action plans consistent with each student’s college and scholarship aspirations.

It is important to note that other considerations in our approach to year-to-year advising reflect the financial need of families, school profile for where students are attending school, and the level of effort that students are willing to commit to across our 3 pillars of scholarship, leadership, and service.
