Narrative Part I: Return to the, “Module 7 – Narrative: 2 Million Minutes,” page in your narrative document and write a narrative summarizing your reflections and group discussion about the video, “2 Million Minutes.”

Narrative Part II: Self-analysis: Review your résumé and set goals. Whether you are a sixth grader with 3 years of middle school and your 2 million high school minutes ahead of you or an eighth grader who is in the final stages of preparing for high school, review each of the following areas on your résumé and return to your narrative document to list your goals within each area.

  • Action: Academic Assessment and Goal Setting:
  • Review the Education section of your résumé and consider setting goals for each of the following areas:
    • Grade Point Average
    • Class Rank
    • SAT or ACT Score
    • Level of Course taking (most difficult___, difficult ___, average ____)
    • Elective coursework to further develop your gifts and talents
    • Special diploma designations or recognition that you may pursue (e.g., magnet seal, IB, distinction, valedictorian, salutatorian, National Honor Society)
    • Goals for academic honors and awards (e.g., GPA, test scores, National Junior Honor Society, AP Honors, National Junior Beta Club, etc.)
  • Action: Community Service Assessment and Goal Setting:
  • Review the Community Service section of your résumé. Based on your current level of community service, consider setting community service goals in one or more of the following areas.
    • Community service in your school, where you worship, in your community, or in a community-based program
    • Community service related to an area of interest or extracurricular activity in which you are involved (e.g., coaching a sport, serving the medical needs of the community, teaching/performing music, etc.)
    • Assuming leadership roles within one or more areas of community service
  • Action: Extracurricular Activity Assessment and Goal Setting:
  • Review the Activities section of your résumé. Based on your current level of extracurricular activity involvement, consider setting goals in one of more of the following areas:
    • Pursuing personal coaching or specialized training to increase your gifts and talents in one of more activities.
    • Pursuing a paid or unpaid internship to gain hands-on or work experience in one of more activities.
    • Pursuing leadership roles in one or more activities (e.g., officer, captain, founder, program coordinator).
    • Entering competitions or qualifying for special levels of recognition (e.g., athletic records, recording music, winning competitions, All-state Chorus, All-state Orchestra, National History Day, writing a book, etc.).
  • Action: Honors and Awards: Review all of the areas in which you are involved and identify any areas of formal recognition, e.g., martial arts belts, honor roll, most improved student, citizenship, Eagle Scout, Girl Scout Gold Award, etc.
  • Narrative Part II: Return to your the, “Module 7 – Narrative: 2 Million Minutes,” page of your narrative document and summarize the type of goals that you are setting in the Narrative II section of your document.
