Middle School Programs

ECE Outreach: Pre-College Programs: The ECE Outreach Office coordinates several major programs for high school teachers and pre-college students of various ages, as well as tours of the School’s facilities and visits to metro Atlanta schools.

These activities are organized in partnerships with local public school systems and magnet programs, the Georgia Tech Admissions Office and other campus groups that also have K-12 outreach missions, and engineering and science professional societies.

Below is a list of programs led by ECE; please check back often for updates.

The following campus offices offer additional information about campus visits, information sessions, and other specialized programs at Georgia Tech:

Georgia Tech: Living Together:  In this environmental science program, students will design a solution to a problem facing the town of Wamego. Generations of residents have worked the town's farms and enjoyed the outdoor activities and recreation available to this quaint community along the banks of the Crystal River.

CSI: GT:  Grab a pair of examination gloves, and get ready to explore one of the fastest growing and most exciting fields in science – Forensics Science. During this week students dive into forensics, learning through case studies, mock crime scenes, and hands-on lab work. Students will learn and explore traditional fingerprinting, blood splatter patterns, DNA fingerprinting, and many other techniques used in real crime investigation.

Adventures in Animation:  Adventures in Animation is a hands-on program that allows participants to combine art, engineering, and computer science to create dynamic productions.  Participants will experience the excitement of controlling electronic devices using the Pico Cricket kit that makes music and tests reaction time by programming the kit to interact with the user.

SPACE CAMP programs range from 3 to 8 days, during which teamwork, self confidence and communication will be achieved through state-of-the-art simulations, missions, rocket building and robotics.

AVIATION CHALLENGE programs range from 3 to 8 days, during which teamwork, self confidence and communication will be achieved through state-of-the-art high performance jet simulation, scenario-based missions, land and water survival training and flight dynamics.

X-CAMP activities are similar to the preparation space shuttle and aviation crews train in before being added to active flight status. Team building and communication is an integral component that will be utilized during the course of this experience.

Sig @ Emory University: Summer residential program where students become part of a community of like-minded young people and adults. These students are committed to academic excellence, social and emotional growth, and creative and recreational excitement. Crucial to this stimulating environment is the inclusion of students who share similar abilities, interests, commitments, and talents. Here students learn responsibility, self-motivation, community participation, and respect for others.

Summer Blast Technology Camps for 1st thru 5th graders at Southern Polytechnic University

SummerBlast: Detonate your child's summer fun by signing him/her up for one, some, or all SummerBlast camps. The mixture of recreational activities and academic programs will ignite a burst of fun and learning. The camp's nucleus is a combination of science and technology subjects exploding with hands-on activities outside of the traditional academic setting. Don't let your kid's summer be a dud!
